Acupuncture

Erin Kennedy, LAc, MS, came to the practice of acupuncture after working in horticulture, nurturing vitality in plants and the environment. She was fascinated by the way Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treats human health with a holistic, ecosystems approach, focused on the interconnections between the parts and the whole. She is especially interested in the application of TCM to neurological, psychosomatic and somatopsychic conditions, where it can modulate the mind-body connection to alleviate symptoms and eliminate pain.

She has personally experienced the power of acupuncture, not just to heal, but to restore vitality and awaken a deeper self-connection and love of life. Whether treating physical or emotional pain and trauma, or acute or chronic illness, Erin educates and empowers patients to take control of their health so they can achieve their goals and enjoy life without suffering.

Erin is a Licensed Acupuncturist in New York and New Jersey, and is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. She earned a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science in New York. Through a clinical internship at NYU Langone’s Initiative for Women with Disabilities, she gained experience working with patients with severe orthopedic pain and neurological conditions. Her continuing education has focused on Chinese herbal medicine, neurofunctional acupuncture, and pregnancy care. She also completed a doula training to better support pregnant patients. Clinical experience has focused on women’s health and fertility, supporting women from menarche through menopause.

Ayla Yavin, L.Ac., discovered Acupuncture during her career as a professional dancer when she began treatments for an injury incurred during a performance. Not only did Ayla make a complete recovery, she experienced the side effects of acupuncture treatment – a steady mind, a healthy body, and a better quality of life. She was inspired by the power of Chinese Medicine and its ability to transform injury and pain into opportunities for positive change.

When Ayla returned to dance, she was a stronger performer than she ever had been. While continuing to dance professionally, Ayla began to study Chinese medicine and eventually decided to devote herself to its practice full time.

Ayla Yavin is a licensed and board certified acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. Ayla earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Swarthmore College. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine (GPOM) where she trained in Chinese Medicine while also earning a Master’s degree in Western Health Science. She completed a two-year internship at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, training in the Labor & Delivery, Oncology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation units. She also completed a two-year clinical internship focusing on internal medicine, women’s health, infertility, and orthopedic medicine. Ayla is trained as a Birth Doula, and has over a decade of experience as a yoga instructor.

In addition to her private practice, Ayla is proud to be a member of the clinical staff at NYU Langone’s Harkness Center for Dance Injuries.
